There they are, widows of the professoriate
/ Tied to their frail routines, but not unfree
/ Wheeling their shopping zimmers on Market Street;

Life is mostly froth and bubble,
/ Two things stand like stone,
/ Kindness in another’s trouble,
/ Courage in your own.

kicking pine cones down the street
/ climbing the backyard cherry tree
/ lying in new sheets
/ waking in darkness waking to snow
/ how…
Parachute men say
/ The first jump
/ Takes the breath away
/ Feet in the air disturb
/ Till you get used to it.

It requires great love of it deeply to read
The configuration of a land,
Gradually grow conscious of fine shadings,
