Beth Cochrane

Events and Volunteers Manager

About me… I graduated with an MSc in Creative Writing (distinction) from the University of Edinburgh in 2015, where I also completed an MA in English Literature, 2014. In 2017 my spoken word night, co-directed by Ricky Monahan Brown, won the Saboteur Award for Best Regular Spoken Word Night, UK. I was awarded a New Writers Award from the Scottish Book Trust in 2018, and am currently a Trustee on the Board of Directors at Wigtown Book Festival.

Contact me about… Event proposals, venue hire, the Fringe Festival and volunteering at the Scottish Poetry Library.

My favourite poetry quote is… ‘No cloak of red, / No silly hood upon her head. / She said, “Hello, and do please note, / My lovely furry wolfskin coat.”‘ (‘Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf’, Roald Dahl)

My favourite poets are… Tishani Doshi, Ian Hamilton Finlay, Hera Lindsay Bird

When not at work you’ll find me… At a poetry event, tending to my houseplant collection, writing short stories.
