We commissioned school teacher Rosie Bircham to produce lesson plans for secondary school Juniors (S1 and S2) and Seniors (S3) based on six Scots poems selected and read by poets Kathleen Jamie and Lesley Benzie. Films of these readings are available further down this page. At the foot of the page there are links to the individual poems on our website, where you can download Word versions of the poems to share with your pupils.
Rosie, an English teacher at Mearns Academy in Aberdeenshire, was nominated as Teacher of the Year for the Scots Language Awards in 2021. We are also grateful for the contribution of Bruce Eunson, Scots Language co-ordinator for Education Scotland.
