The Scottish Poetry Library is working with the University of Edinburgh and Napier University to develop an anthology of poems for newly qualified social workers. We are currently collecting published poems that inspire, support reflection, enhance empathy and soothe.
If you have ideas for poems that you have read that link with these values please post them to Twitter or Instagram using #PoetryHelps #SocialWork and including @byleaveswelive.
We are also looking for new work reflecting the values, challenges and opportunities of Scottish social work. This is an open call and we warmly welcome your submissions. The call will remain open from 1 April 2020 until 30 September 2020. The best of the submissions will be published on the Scottish Poetry Library website and writers will be asked to read their work at the launch of the project in October 2020. If your poem is selected, the editors of the anthology may include it in the book.
We especially welcome submissions from social workers and those with lived experience of social work services. Please include a short 100 word bio with your submission.
Please send no more than two poems, formatted in Microsoft Word, to Project Coordinator Samuel Tongue by 30th September 2020. Samuel.Tongue@spl.org.uk.
