Maureen Sangster was born in Aberdeen and has lived in Scotland all her life, except for three years spent teaching English in Nigeria. She has worked in mental health, stroke rehab and adult literacy, and is now a freelance tutor, project development consultant, mentor and workshop facilitator.
Maureen writes in Scots and English, drawing on the Doric of her childhood in the North-east, and the Scots of Fife where she now lives. Her third poetry collection, Menopausal Bedtime Rhymes, won the 2007 Callum Macdonald Memorial Award.
