Born 1955 and raised in Harris, Iain has spent most of his working life as an actor. He took up writing inadvertently. His first play, Fantom was performed at Citizens theatre 2015.
Taigh Sheonachain was awarded the Donald Meek prize for writing in 2017. It is due for podcast in 2022. Briseadh na Cloiche was broadcast on BBC Alba and screened at Glasgow SFF, Faclan festival, Stornoway and Babel international film festival Sardinia 2017 and 2018.
Dirlo was broadcast online by National Theatre of Scotland / BBC / Theatre gu Leor; then broadcast on BBC Alba 2020. Panolof is Panalaf was broadcast on BBC Radio nan Gaidheal and was co-winner of Best Gaelic Arts event 2021.
Short story ‘Mach an Geata’ received the Morton writing prize 2019. His poetry has been published in New Writing Scotland 36; Poets’ Republic 3, 6 and 8; Boundaries and Borders (SWC 2021); ‘Gàirnealachd’ was published in Sea Change and awarded the Federation of Writers Scotland Gaelic poetry prize 2021.
