Donald R. Rawe (1930–2018) was from Padstow and founded the Cornish publishing house Lodenek Press in 1970. As well as being a publisher and poet, he was also an historian and folklorist who lived much of his life on the north coast of Scotland.
He was the author of a number of dramas, stories and poems on Cornish and Celtic themes, including An Skyla dhe Vos (The Reason for Being), Pysadow rak Kernow yn Vledhen 2000 (Prayer for Cornwall in the Year 2000) and Geryow Kernewek (Cornish Words), which was translated by Tim Saunders and featured in the anthology Poems from the Edge of Extinction (Chambers, 2021).
Rawe was the 2016 Holyer an Gof Literary Salver winner, as chosen by members of the Cornish Literary Guild, for Geraint – Last of the Arthurians, published by Lodenek Press.
