Alastair McLeish

Alastair McLeish was born in Bathgate in 1945. He studied Philosophy and English Literature at Edinburgh University and later completed a PhD on the Early Writings of Karl Marx at the University of Aberdeen. He has published a number of articles on the young Karl Marx and his contemporaries Ludwig Feuerbach and Max Stirner. One of them, entitled Against Max Stirner can still be read online, in the journal Non Serviam. Alastair was an English and Communications teacher, though before retiring he taught politics at the University of Aberdeen.

Alastair began writing poetry during the covid outbreak, and eventually produced a small (unpublished) book entitled Eco Poems in Scots and English. One of the poems, a long eco-feminist poem called Wee Greta as telt by Gaia was a runner-up in the Sangschaw Prize of 2024.
