About this poem

This poem was included in Best Scottish Poems 2017. Best Scottish Poems is an online publication, consisting of 20 poems chosen by a different editor each year, with comments by the editor and poets. It provides a personal overview of a year of Scottish poetry. The editor in 2017 was Roddy Woomble.

Author’s note:

At the Stromness Writing Group there was a project to celebrate 200 years of Stromness’ town status. The group compiled an anthology of acrostic poems based on Stromness street names. Well Park Lane had not been covered and was not a street I was familiar with, so my poem is more general than specific.
