Catriona Lexy Campbell

Colourful house

Tha sìol beag san talamh
Ach ciamar a nì e fàs?
Feumaidh e an t-uisge agus feumaidh e am blàths.
Frasan às an adhar
A’ tuiteam sìos gu talamh
Bheir iad dhan an t-sìol bheag
Uisge airson fàs.

Gaelic National Poetry Day 2018 suitable for children

Translations of this Poem

Traditional

Translator: Catriona Lexy Campbell, Catriona Lexy Campbell

There’s a little seed in the ground
But how does it grow?
It needs water and it needs warmth.
Showers from the sky
Falling to the ground
Give the little seed
Water to help it grow.

About this poem

This traditional rhyme is revised by Catriona Lexy Chaimbeul, with support from the Gaelic Books Council, and is one of the poems chosen for National Poetry Day 2018 on the theme of ‘change’.
