Poet Jo Gilbert

Dis onythin that grows bide the same?

Fit why dae humans insist on takkin credit?

Dis oor big bang o thochts an ideas graze & merge tae form fact?

Dae some feals still believe the Earth is flat?

Kin ye imagine haein the chikk

tae caa iss solar system ‘oors’?

As if sharin atoms wae it gies us first dibs?

Did we nae eence regaird Pluto a planet ana?

Fit wye did we cry him efter God o the unnerwarld

fan we knurlt him doon tae a nether class?

Is Pluto fashed avva? Dis he ken he’s biordinar? Furthest awa?

Wae antrin oval orbit, lik an egg tracin the shape o life

in the shadda o a mibbe – Planet X or Planet 9?

Dis onythin in life bide certain? Or is chynge oor ainly constant?

Dis aathin grow fae love or hate?

Wis Earth’s meen borne fae a hit & run?

Did kiss & capture mak a meen o Charon?

Wis it fey love amon yon Kuiper belt?

A flee-by fae NASA sint picturs, bit kin ye trust a photie?

New Horizons gied a cheip o planetary activity

fit micht bile aneth Pluto’s bonfrost?

Wid Charon’s fiery smoorich mak a muckle mar o Pluto’s hert?

Wis it droont wae the memory? Wis it beeriet

aneth miles o ice an steen? Did it burn for billennia?

Dis love lik at wane, or owerturn tae hate?

Dae we need tae ken?

Or jist wait for it tae fade?
