That I choose you or
you choose me to
make our lives together is
a lie:

whatever binds us
is whatever holds this
arrow of grey geese
straight in the sky.

Ian McFadyen is a former schoolteacher, now living in Peebles. Raised in West Linton, educated at Peebles High School and the University of Edinburgh, he taught in Tweeddale until his retirement.
