Commonwealth Poets United: Glenn Colquhoun
July 2014
Commonwealth Poets United is an international exchange between six Scottish poets and poets from six Commonwealth nations. Glenn Colquhoun represented New Zealand for the project. Glenn is not only a poet, but a doctor, his poems a lyrical exploration of the doctor’s role. His job, as he sees it, is to encourage more, not less, doubt in doctors, in order to provoke greater contemplation about their duties. When he visited the SPL in May, we grabbed him for an interview. In conversation with SPL Director Robyn Marsack, he talks about visiting Shetland, his Scottish ancestry, and a song of remembrance for his great-great-grandmother.
