National Poetry Day 2019

We are the lead agency in Scotland for National Poetry Day. From 1999, National Poetry Day has been themed by Forward Arts Foundation; this year’s theme of ‘truth’ seemed especially pertinent for inspiration. It is also the UNESCO Year of Indigenous Languages so we teamed up with Forward Foundation/National Poetry Day and Literature Wales to bring you poems in Manx, Cornish, Welsh, Scots, and Gaelic, as well as English.

On this page you’ll find links to the NPD 2019 poems, to our postcards and posters, our teaching notes, and more. If you’d like to keep up-to-date with our NPD resources, you can sign up to our mailing list here.

You can also find more learning resources and posters at the National Poetry Day website.
