To celebrate our 40th birthday in 2024 we trawled through our archives to unearth some gems and curiosities. The SPL has documents and photographs-going back to it’s foundation and beyond-of notable poets, people and places from our history. Where possible, we’ve tried to label photographs with the who, what, where and when and the name of the photographer. We haven’t tracked down everyone, so please let us know if something is wrong, mislabelled or shouldn’t be there by emailing reception@spl.org.uk
