This is a group for teen writers that meets every other Saturday at the Scottish Poetry Library for a series of creative writing workshops run by poet Rachel Plummer. A small, friendly group that welcomes writers of all abilities, covering a variety of topics, from stories to scripts, poems to podcasts, sci-fi to historical, even video game writing.
Each workshop involves some warm up exercises, some more involved activities, and an open ended optional “homework” activity to take away. The group also thinks about publication and routes towards it, supporting those who feel ready to submit their work to publishers. The group doesn’t worry about spelling or grammar, and no one has to share their work if they don’t want to. They’re focused on creating something the group likes, and setting their own goals for their writing.
The current block of workshops runs from January to March 2020, on the following dates: January 11th and 25th, February 8th and 22nd (note: the 22nd will be a field trip to the National Museum of Scotland), and March 14th and 28th The cost is £5 per session. If cost is a barrier to you, please do get in touch as there are a number of free spaces available in each workshop.
