POETRY IN PRACTICE
After 25 years at the University of Edinburgh, poet and author Jim C Wilson is transferring his Poetry in Practice sessions to the Scottish Poetry Library. The course will consist of 10 sessions. Each session will take place on a Thursday afternoon, from 2.00 pm until 4.00 pm, starting on 26th September.
The fee for the 10 weeks is £140. Please book via the Scottish Poetry Library in the section below.
THE BEST WORDS IN THE BEST ORDER
The core activity of each session will be detailed analysis and constructive criticism of poems by three or four group members. There will also be consideration of various forms (sonnet, sestina, cinquain, etc.) and news about publications and events. From time to time, poems by established writers, past and present, will also be examined. And Poetry in Practice has developed a unique approach to the renga (Japanese linked poem), producing one verse each week!
Material for each session will be emailed to members several days in advance and they should download this and bring it with them on Thursday afternoons.
