- This event has passed.
Due to the current C-19 pandemic, this event has been cancelled. We hope to host a Poetry in Practice course again in Autumn 2020. Apologies from Jim C Wilson and the whole team at the SPL.
After 25 years at the University of Edinburgh, poet and author Jim C Wilson’s Poetry in Practice sessions are now based at the Scottish Poetry Library.
THE BEST WORDS IN THE BEST ORDER
The core activity of each session will be detailed analysis and constructive criticism of poems by three or four group members. There will also be consideration of various forms (sonnet, sestina, cinquain, etc.) and news about publications and events. From time to time, poems by established writers, past and present, will also be examined. And Poetry in Practice has developed a unique approach to the renga (Japanese linked poem), producing one verse each week!
Material for each session will be emailed to members several days in advance and they should download this and bring it with them on Thursday afternoons.
