This page collects together the Library’s information regarding COVID-19 and our services during the pandemic.
UPDATED AS OF 15/1/2021.
In line with the latest advice provided by the Scottish government, the Scottish Poetry Library will continue to provide its Click and Collect weekday service during this latest phase of the lockdown; the Scottish Government has judged that books are essential items that can continue to be provided. In addition to Click and Collect we are continuing to provide free postal loans. You can also contact staff via their emails if you have an inquiry.
The Scottish Poetry Library is staffed weekdays from 10am – 2pm providing a limited service. We’re offering:
- Free postal loans with extended borrowing periods.
- A ‘click and collect’ service; consult our catalogue to see if we have the book you want and then email our reception to secure the book; you can then come down to the Library and pick up the books.
While the current lockdown is in place, we are not allowing borrowers to come into the Library to browse the shelves. We recommend borrowers use our catalogue to browse our collection or alternatively contact our librarians by email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
We’ll monitor the situation on a weekly basis and respond to the Scottish Government guidance when necessary.

We shall be updating users as to the progress of the Library’s re-opening, with information, reflections on the process and images.
One of our main sources of reference for managing our services coming out of the lockdown in the safest way is a document produced by SLIC and the Scottish Government for public libraries, which can be read here.
