This year’s National Poetry Day’s theme was ‘vision’, and in that spirit we’re presenting in one handy blog all the films we commissioned or were involved in to mark NPD.
First up, we filmed an interview with John Hegley at the SPL, conducted by fellow poet Michael Pedersen.
We also present a series of short films featuring poems taken from a new digital poetry collaboration Bàrd, File, Bardd, which explores links between the Welsh, Irish and Scottish Gaelic languages. The poems are by National Poet of Wales Ifor ap Glyn, Ciara Ní É, and Pàdraig Mac Aoidh. The poets were commissioned to write three poems and have worked with award-winning multimedia director Ian Rowlands, video editor and composer Jason Lye-Phillips and animator Pól Maguire to create the videos.
The product of a collaboration between literary and arts organisations Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich, Scottish Poetry Library and Literature Wales, Bàrd, File, Bardd explores identities and how languages continue to evolve and adapt to the modern world.
