David Huerta: Poems/Poemas

The poet

David Huerta was born in Mexico City in 1949. Since publishing his first collection of poems in 1972, he has won numerous awards including the Xavier Villaurrutia Prize in 2005 for his lifetime contribution to Mexican literature.

The translators

Jamie McKendrick has published five books of poems, including The Marble Fly (winner of the Forward Prize), andCrocodiles & Obelisks. His translations from Italian include Giorgio Bassani's novel The Garden of the Finzi-Continis andThe Embrace, a selection of Valerio Magrelli's poems.

Tom Boll teaches in the department of Spanish and Spanish American Studies at King's College London. His Octavio Paz and T.S. Eliot: Modern Poetry and the Translation of Influence was published by Legenda in 2010.
