Biography

Summary

Sandra Alland is a Scottish-Canadian writer, filmmaker and interdisciplinary artist based in Scotland. She has published three books of poetry in Canada, as well as a pamphlet of stories in Scotland. Her most recent poetry collection, Naturally Speaking (Espresso), won Canada's 2013 bpNichol Award. Sandra is featured on Queen Mary University of London's Archive of the Now, and her writing has appeared in Comma, Gutter, Chroma, subTerrain and This Magazine.

Sandra Alland is co-editor of an anthology of UK disabled and deaf poets (Nine Arches Press). She has performed widely throughout the UK and internationally, including at Edinburgh International Book Festival (Words Per Minute), Ottawa International Book Festival, Jawdance (Apples & Snakes), and Aye Write! Festival. She also collaborates with the poetry-music-film ensemble, They They Theys.
