Biography

Summary

Pauline Prior-Pitt was born in Hull. She trained to be an actress and drama teacher. In 1997 she moved to the Isle of North Uist. She began writing poetry in her late 30s. Her poems are often comic, but she is also concerned with ageing and with her adopted home. Her North Uist Sea Poems won the Callum Macdonald Memorial Award for pamphlet poetry in 2006. She has appeared on Radio 4's Woman's Hour, Pick of the Week, Channel 4, Central, and Carlton Television. She has written five books of poetry, published by Spike Press: Waiting Women, Addresses & Dreams, Storm Biscuits, Ironing with Sue Lawley and Holding Close.
