Biography

Summary

Kathleen Raine was half Scottish; the landscape of the Highlands and that of her childhood Northumbria find a place in her poetry, which largely explores the relationship between man and nature, and man and the sacred. She was a scholar and critic, the founder of Temenos Review and the Temenos Academy, and author of numerous books of poetry; the Collected Poems was published by Golgonooza Press in 2000. Kathleen Raine received the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry in 1992, and both the CBE and the Commandeur de L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2000.
