Douglas Lipton
Biography
Summary
Douglas Lipton was born in 1953 in Glasgow where he lived for the first half of his life. He was educated at the University of Strathclyde, and also attended creative writing classes at Glasgow University’s Department of Extra-Mural and Adult Education. In the late 1970s, he moved to Dumfriesshire where he has lived ever since, working as a teacher in learning support and special educational needs.
His poems have been published New Writing Scotland (ASLS), Poetry Scotland, NorthWords, and Painted, spoken. His publications include The Stone Sleeping-Bag (Mariscat, 1993) and three chapbook collections from Markings Press, the most recent being Hale-Bopp (2001). In 2009 two further collections were published, An enclave in Eden and The Aquarium.
