Open Book and the Stars

Join Open Book at the Scottish Poetry Library for mince pies and special readings by Russell Jones and Pippa Goldschmidt, two poets who write about the stars. This event is free and no booking or prior experience is required!

Pippa Goldschmidt used to be an astronomer and is now a writer of fiction and poetry. She’s the author of the novel The Falling Sky, the short story collection The Need for Better Regulation of Outer Space, and co-editor (with Tania Hershman) of I Am Because You Are (all published by Freight Books). Her poetry, stories and non-fiction have been published in a variety of places including Gutter, the Scottish Review of Books, New York Times, and also broadcast on Radio 4. 

Russell Jones is an Edinburgh-based writer and editor. He has published four collections of poetry, most recently The Green Dress Whose Girl is Sleeping (Freight Books). He is deputy editor of Shoreline of Infinity, a science fiction magazine, is the editor of Where Rockets Burn Through: Contemporary Science Fiction Poems from the UK (Penned in the Margins) and co-editor of Umbrellas of Edinburgh: Poetry and Prose Inspired by Scotland’s Capital City (Freight Books).
