Listen Softly

Dominic Stevenson started Listen Softly London in 2013, to provide a friendly, low-pressure platform for poets and writers who might face barriers to engaging with more mainstream live literature events.  Listen Softly - which came to the Edinburgh Fringe for the first time in 2017 - provides an accessible and friendly space for softly-spoken performers, for shy performers, for performers who need to read off paper or use props; for performers who may stammer, stutter or just need time to think.  We hope we're a spoken word night for everyone.

Listen Softly events are free and open to all.  If you'd like to come to our shows and you have particular accessibility needs, please get in touch via and we'll do all we can to accommodate you.

Jane Bradley, Dean Rhetoric, Colin McGuire and Dominic Stevenson will be our feature performers for the working class writers showcase on 14th August.

Rosie Garland, Marjorie Lotfi Gill, Christina Neuwirth and Claire Askew will be our feature performers for the women writers showcase on 15th August.
