Launch: Brian Johnstone’s Juke Box Jeopardy

Red Squirrel Press invites you to join us for the launch of Brian Johnstone’s new pamphlet collection, Juke Box Jeopardy, his eighth book to date.

Conceived as a compilation album of truth and fantasy, stories and imaginings, this music-themed pamphlet looks back at the teenage poet’s stumbling path through the pop, rock and more of the ’50s, ’60s and early ’70s. With poems inspired by stars from Elvis to The Beatles, from Dusty to The Stones, this collection shows the poet’s lighter side while also evoking the atmosphere of his youth.

The evening will include readings by the poet, a few words from Sheila Wakefield of Red Squirrel Press and some songs by Dave Burnett & Rod McAra. Everyone is welcome at this free event.

Brian Johnstone’s poetry has appeared throughout Scotland, and in over 20 countries worldwide. He has published six collections, most recently Dry Stone Work (Arc, 2014), and he is included on The Poetry Archive website. His memoir Double Exposure was published by Saraband in 2017.

Everyone welcome to this free event.
