Gerda Stevenson: A Tribute to the Women of Scotland

Luath Press and the Scottish Poetry Library are proud to present the launch of Quines: Poems in Tribute to Women of Scotland by Gerda Stevenson. The poetry collection charts the part played by some remarkable women of Scotland in our nation’s history and culture.

Stevenson’s Quines represents all kinds of professions and social classes – among them singers, a fish-gutter, politicians, a salt-seller, scientists and many more –  spanning from early Scotland to 21st century. The poems celebrate these women’s achievements and contributions to Scottish history and society.

Written in Scots and English, the collection celebrates well-known women of Scotland, remembers those who were forgotten and introduces brilliant women who are completely unknown.

The SPL is fully accessible, with a ground-floor entrance and a lift that accesses all three floors. There is one adapted toilet on the basement floor. Guide and hearing dogs are welcome.
