A Celebration of Duncan Ban MacIntyre

For this year's Seachdain na Gàidhlig - Edinburgh Gaelic Festival, the SPL  hosts an event celebrating the Gaelic bard Donnchadh Bàn Mac an t-Saoir (Duncan Ban MacIntyre). Donnchadh Bàn was an Edinburgh resident; a monument to him can be seen in Greyfriars Kirkyard. The University of Edinburgh's Anja Gunderloch, one of the foremost experts on his work, will talk about his life in Edinburgh. Gillebrìde MacMillan will participate in a discussion and perform the songs of the bard. Gillebrìde MacMillan is a Gaelic singer and has played the part of Gwyllyn the Bard in Outlander, the popular series set in Jacobite period Scotland, Donnchadh Bàn's own era.
