Beth Cochrane

Events Co-ordinator

About me… I finished up a Masters in Creative Writing (prose – sorry!), in 2015, and have been working in libraries and coordinating literary events ever since. After graduating, I spent a month in Galloway with Wigtown Book Festival, before joining Edinburgh’s Central Library. I’ve been running the Saboteur Award winning spoken word night, Interrobang?!, since 2016, and have coordinated literary theatre, live literature and poetry performances in multiple festivals.

Contact me about… Event proposals, room bookings, queries about the upcoming events programme.

My favourite poetry quote is… 'No cloak of red, / No silly hood upon her head. / She said, “Hello, and do please note, / My lovely furry wolfskin coat."' ('Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf', Roald Dahl)

My favourite poets are… This year it’s been Hollie McNish, Christina Rossetti, Rachel McCrum, Sylvia Plath, and Ben Okri.

When not at work you’ll find me… Most likely at a spoken word event or tending to my ever-blooming houseplant collection. If not, search your local cafés for the woman with the large slice of cake and a book.

My favourite biscuit is… Biscuit curls. My favourite cake is… Raspberry and white chocolate (cup)cake(s), lemon cheesecake, caramel blondies.

Me as a form of poem would be… haiku: short, to the point, and often seasonal.
